2008 Hooters International Swimsuit FinalsOn July 8, over 130 Hooters Girls from around the world competed in the 12th Annual Hooters International Swimsuit Pageant in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Sara Hoots of Selma, TX was crowned Miss Hooters International and took home the $50,000 first place prize. Regionally, Amanda Murphy of Murfreesboro, TN, LeAngela Davis of the Columbus, OH, and Brittany Johnson of Johnson City, TN all placed in the top 10. Chattanooga Hooters Customer Went in for Wings and Left with 25,000 BonesIn celebration of Hooters 25th Anniversary, the company passed along some of its success to Garret Landers who was an instant $25,000 winner today at the Hooters of Chattanooga! Landers, an Army Officer stationed in Atlanta, sat down at the Hooters restaurant located at 5912 Brainerd Rd. for a plate of wings and curly fries. What he didn't expect was to leave with more money in hand! "I am in Chattanooga for business and went into my now "favorite" restaurant for lunch, and had no idea what was going to happen," explained Landers. "I have a wife and 3 kids at home and we are going to start a college fund with the money." In addition to Landers' instant win, Hooters will be giving out an additional $25,000 today to customers across the country. On the 25th of every month this year, there is a celebration at every Hooters and guests receive a scratch card giving them a chance to win $25,000 instantly or be entered into a second chance drawing in which 25 lucky customers will win $1,000. So far this year, Hooters has already given away a total of $150,000 cash - including today's winners. "We would like to congratulate Garret on winning and helping us recognize Hooters' 25th anniversary," said Mike McNeil, Vice President of Marketing for Hooters of America. "There isn't a better way to celebrate this milestone than with the customers that have been so supportive." In 1983, six businessmen in Clearwater, Florida, opened the first Hooters.
